One
of the main priorities when designing the layout of
Gallinago was to make the cabins and living area as spacious as
possible, for this reason we do not offer any single cabins. To
‘box’ the boat in with small single cabins would have spoilt the
whole concept and purpose of the river barge cruises. Rather, we have
designed the stern twin cabin so people who are not a couple can
use it. It has two wash basins extra floor space and through the
centre of the cabin we have a heavy upholstery material curtain
to give you privacy if required. If you are travelling alone, we
can attempt to find someone of the same sex to share this cabin
with you – please ask Emma for full details.
All the cabins have a porcelain wash basin with
hot and cold running water and vanity area. We have two toilets,
one in our superior bathroom with bath / shower and the other in
the utility room. We feel we have struck the right balance, as
there will be a maximum of six of us on board, i.e. four guests
plus Emma and myself.
Practical home comforts
are provided on our river barge cruises with a washing machine and tumble dryer, so if you
are travelling for some time, we can help you catch up with your
laundry. We have Internet access on board, so if you are
desperate to check your e-mail we can help with this too.
We have an extensive library
of reference books and novels, which you are most welcome to
borrow, and we have a selection of board games and cards if you
need some light entertainment whilst on your river barge cruise. |

For the technically minded, she has hydraulic drive to one
propeller, two rudders and two bowthrusters. The drive is based
on a system we have used successfully on our narrowboat for 8
years, only now we have more than twice the power. |
She is powered by two Deutz
four-cylinder turbo diesel engines, which comply with the most
stringent International exhaust and sound emission standards.
The engines are housed in sound proofed compartments, so the
peace of the countryside is not disturbed by the sound of the
engine. |
